Rock n roll versions

So I performed in Ft Lauderdale. It was an odd experience. I had to emergency change the show. The event space changed and was not at all what I was expecting. Thank you Gods for that little voice in my head that said "bring a mic!" I had to cut all the sound and lighting cues. And the light up mirror convention. Ft Lauderdale here we come!

So Yup! I'm doing The Complete History of Drag in a Few Mo-mo in Florida! I'm excited to see how the show tours and of course to do it in front of an actual audience. Marc, Andrew and I are super happy with the rewrites and how it's all coming together. I think I'm even starting to like my janky table!! I'm losing track of a few other projects...

What is in a title?

Sometimes the title of something is super clear and duh like The Sex Life of Achilles. Other times I struggle forever or, even worse, I never find it and come up with something that works..or at least doesn't suck. Other times, ok I'll admit it, I am the only one who likes a title and everyone else is like CHANGE IT and I'm like NO! Cause although I take a lot of pride in my taking notes abilities sometimes I don't agree. I guess that's the upside of being a poor artist??? Ha! Anyway I LOVED the title 3 Numbers in the middle of Nowhere. But to be fair that was the title of a short film I was working...

A dancer..fakes it

Last night Shanna and I choreo'd the Evolution of a Queen part of Mo-mo. Fun was had! I was sort of down on myself for all I couldn't do. Ya know: how come I can't releve? How come my leg only goes that high? How come I have zero core? Shanna said, "stop trying to do tricks! Let's start at the beginning and tell the story." Thank Gods! I am smart enough to work with awesome people! It's almost 2017, Dave when are you going to stop beating yourself up and enjoy all you have! Make Art. Stop Crying.

Uhg what a week!!! I was in Vegas with my Mom and and cousin Christie when the news went down. I stifled tears. I drank a ridiculous amount of vodka. In the morning I was hung over and sad. We saw Wayne Newton, who is an awesome storyteller, I laughed even though only a few hours earlier I thought I'd never laugh again. On the drive home I actually cried and thought I can't. I cannot do it again. I have been protesting since the 80s. It never gets better I can't do it anymore. let them win. I'm out.
